We look forward to everyone arriving for a wonderful, fun-filled school year.

A brand new mural

Check it out! A brand new mural has been painted on our hall wall. This summer Mrs. Cathy Walters, our Art teacher, began a 4 part mural on the hallway by the library and music room. Part one is complete and is fabulous.

As you exit the library into this hallway you will be looking directly at a scene depicting Jesus sitting under a tree reading to St. Pius X students. It is a beautiful scene and reminds us that Christ is present to us everyday.

Mrs. Walters is planning future panels that will show students in the computer lab, participating in Science projects and music lessons. We can hardly wait to see the final product – however, it may take several summers to complete.

We are truly blessed to have such a talented and giving person on our school staff. Please stop in for a visit and check out this wonderful addition to our building.

While you are visiting, please take note of the courtyard. The courtyard is located near the front entrance of the school. It was provided during the construction so that every classroom could have natural light. For the past two years, the courtyard has grown a variety of weeds. We have added some tables with benches for anyone who would like to enjoy this space. However, the weeds had taken over the plant beds. One of our 2006 eighth grade students decided he would like to use the space for his Eagle Scout project.

Ethan Reynolds, his dad and many helpers took time this summer to complete this project. They built benches and a pergola out of donated wood. They pulled out all of the weeds and with the help of financing from our PTG planted beautiful blooming plants in each of the flower beds. The completed project is fabulous! The space is more inviting for use for outdoor classes or at lunch time for the adults. It also makes a much more positive appearance to visitors to have this clean and lovely space.

We are grateful to Ethan for giving of his time and energy. We are also proud that one of our students wanted to give something back to our parish community. I know Ethan is proud of the accomplishment also.
